Creating a new tapestry

To create a new tapestry:

  1. Login to your WordPress dashboard
  2. Hover over “Tapestries” on the left menu
  3. Click “Add New”
  4. Add a title and press “Publish”
  5. Press “View post”

Please note that all Tapestry editing functionalities exist on the “View” page as tapestry is meant for co-authoring. Users will be able to edit their tapestry on the same page as viewing it (if they have the right permissions).

Adding your first node

To add your first node to a new tapestry:

  1. Press the “Add Root Node” button
  2. Enter your title and content type
  3. Fill in your content details

Note: Description field is optional, and so is everything under the “Appearance” and “Permission” tabs.

Adding more nodes and editing nodes

To add more nodes to an existing node:

  1. Press the “+” button on the node that you’d like to add a node to
  2. Follow the instructions as per “Adding your first node”

To edit a node:

  1. Press the pencil icon on the node you’d like to edit
  2. Make your changes and press “Submit”

Adding or deleting connections

To add a connection:

  1. Select the node you want to create a connection from, then click and drag the “plus” icon.
  2. Keep dragging the connection line towards the node you want to connect with.
  3. Release, and click “OK” in the pop-up at the top of your screen.

To delete a connection:

  1. Hover over a connection until it turns red.
  2. Click on it, then click “OK” in the pop-up at the top of your screen to delete the connection.

Adding or changing node background

To add a background to your node:

  1. Press on the “Appearance” tab at the top of the authoring panel
  2. Check the “Add a thumbnail” box
  3. To upload an image from your computer, click “Browse” and select a file from your computer
  4. Click “Submit” to update your node background

To use an image from the WordPress Media Library, ensure you have uploaded an image there: navigate to the WordPress dashboard, press the “Media” tab, then click “Add new”.

  1. From the Media Library, click on the image you would like to use.
  2. Copy the “File URL” from the right-side panel
  3. Navigate back to your tapestry, and paste this link into the URL box under the “Appearance” tab
  4. Click “Submit” to update your node background

Changing node permissions and locking nodes

To change permissions for a node:

  1. Press the pencil icon on the node and click on the “Access” tab
  2. Select your permissions as desired to set whether selected group of users can view (read), add, or edit the given node
  3. Press submit

To make a node inaccessible to users before another node is viewed/completed:

  1. Press the pencil icon on the node and click on the “Access” tab
  2. Under “Lock Node”, check the box and then add your condition
  3. For your condition, you’ll need to select the node that you want your users to complete before being able to access this node.
  4. Press submit

Adding an H5P node

To add a new H5P content:

  1. Login to the WordPress dashboard and navigate to “H5P Content” on the left menu
  2. Press “Add New”
  3. Choose your content type and fill in the details as needed
  4. Press “Create”

To add a new H5P node to your tapestry:

  1. Ensure you’ve already created your H5P content in the backend by following the steps above
  2. Refresh your tapestry if you just added your H5P content
  3. Add your node as you would usually, and choose “H5P” as the content type
  4. Click on the box below it to choose your H5P content. You may enter the name of your H5P content there to find your content and then choose it
  5. Press submit

Adding a YouTube video

To add a YouTube video to a node:

  1. Start by creating a new node (by clicking the “plus” icon), or editing an existing node (by clicking the “pencil” icon).
  2. Once in the authoring panel, select “Video” as your content type.
  3. Paste your YouTube video link directly under “Video URL”.
  4. Press submit.
